Life-Like includes its High Iron train set in early 1970s product catalogs. The set shows a 4-6-0 steam locomotive of two differing styles during the period from 1970 to 1972. The rolling stock varies, according to illustrations in 1970 and 1971, with an original line up of refrigerator car, tank car, boxcar, cement hopper, and caboose. The revised rolling stock in 1972’s catalog presents a mock-up of the track cleaning car that differs from production models, tank car, searchlight car, boxcar, and caboose. Available road names listed by Life-Like included Pennsylvania Railroad and Rio Grande. The set carried a $40 list in 1970 with stock number #9P5 in 1970 and later T452 beginning in 1971. This locomotive is one of the more uncommon selections listed by Life-Like during its history. The image below shows the alternate 4-6-0 and different rolling stock that appears in Life-Like’s 1972 catalog. Compare this later version with the freight cars and different 4-6-0 present in 1970 and 1971 catalogs.
