Famed toy train maker Lionel Trains first offered model trains in 1:87 HO-scale in 1957 with train produced by Rivarossi and Athearn. Tooling from John English’s Hobbyline trains had been purchased to produce the few items made by Lionel itself. The initial Lionel HO line was withdrawn by 1966. In 1974, Lionel-HO returned in a big way with a number releases that still find themselves in other company’s product lines in the 21st century. Lionel HO Train Sets

Welcome to the NEW HO-Scale Trains Resource! The original web site was launched by Tony Cook in 2000, and has since grown to become the premiere resource for the history of HO scale vintage model trains. Now part of the White River Productions family, and working with the editors of HO Collector Magazine, we are looking forward to growing this valuable reference for the benefit of all hobbyists. Please bear with us as we move old pages to the new site, and thank you for reporting any broken links as we transition this 20-year archive to the new format.
