AHM’s Thunderchief was among the Thunder Line train set offerings available beginning about 1970. The set included a Fairbanks-Morse C-Liner diesel leading three passenger cars (two coaches and an observation car). For its time, this was a rare situation to find scale-length passenger cars provided in a train set. AHM’s catalog pictured a Baltimore & Ohio (#69708) version of the Thunderchief; also offered was a Pennsylvania Railroad (#69706) and Union Pacific (#69707) Thunderchief set. An oval track plan and power pack was included with this set.
