Mantua introduced six train sets in 1994 catalog. The boxed set releases provided a motive power selection and rolling stock only. No track and no power pack came with this series of offerings.
One of three train sets that included a steam locomotive, Mantua’s Reading Way Freight (No. 943-393) came with an 0-6-0 tank switcher, Louisville & Nashville 40-foot flatcar with pipe load, RailGon 40-foot gondola, and green-and-yellow Reading caboose. The set had a $69.50 dealer cost. The steam locomotive model represents Mantua tooling, the rolling stock came to the hobby manufacturer’s line from Lindberg.
